Field Analytics: The Key to Cost Effective Site Cleanup Videotape,
produced by Dr. Albert Robbat, Tufts University,Chemistry Department, Center for Field
Analytical Studies and Technology. This Videotape is currently being distributed by the Haskell
Environmental Research Studies (HERS) Center through a grant awarded by EPA's Technology
Innovation Office (TIO) in the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER).

The Field Analytics video uses the Hanscom Air Force, Bedford MA, as a case study to illustrate
the benefits of utilizing field-based site characterization technologies to expedite cleanup of
contaminants. Key aspects of the "Dynamic Workplan Guidelines," are a focal point of the
video, including; adaptive sampling and analytical programs, data quality objective process,
development of data management plan and development of quality assurance plan. Through the
collaborative efforts of an interagency team of scientists and engineers it becomes evident that
time and cost savings are maximized in the site characterization process by effective use of field
analytics at the Hanscom site. Field Analytics video provides an overview of some of the
specific field-based site characterization technologies that were used in the project. Data was
obtained quickly from rapid analysis on site, which led to faster decisions in the site
characterization process. This is a useful introduction to real time, on site decision making
through the use of field-based site characterization process.

To order Tufts University, Field Analytics: The Key to Cost Effective Site Cleanup videotape
through HERS Center, follow instructions on the back of this form. It may be ordered by mail,
email, or fax. The video will be shipped free of cost to interested parties.

More cleanup information can be found through the EPA's CLU-IN website (http://clu-in.org).
Information about the use of dynamic workplans and the document, "A Guideline for Dynamic
Workplans and Field Analytics: The Keys to Cost Effective Site Characterization and Cleanup"
can be downloaded as pdf file (31 pages) at http://clu-in.org/charl .htm. Go to "Guidance &
