Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable Purpose The purpose of the Roundtable is to exchange information and provide a forum for joint activity regarding the development and demonstration of innovative technologies for hazardous waste site remediation. The exchange synthesizes the technical knowledge that Federal agencies have compiled and provides a more comprehensive record of performance and cost. Members include major developers and users of these technolo- gies: Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Interior, and the Environmental Protection Agency. epdranentor Background Federal efforts in hazardous waste site remediation are progressing from an emphasis on site investigation and identification of contaminants to a phase of intensive soU and ground-water cleanup. New technologies are being developed to improve the efficiency and lower the costs of these efforts, and Federal agencies responsible for hazardous waste site cleanups are gaining valuable experience in the use of these innovative tech- nologies. To provide for better, more complete exchange of technology information fe±o agena™haVedevek)Ped P*°Z™™ t° Actively sponsor and pursue innovative technolog.es. This initiative serves Federal program interests and supports applied research and development in innovative technologies. Objective A Federal Roundtab e of 10-12 senior executives from agencies with an interest in haz- ardous waste remed, ation technology has been established. The group meets as a S ing committee two times each year to establish a process for applfed teZolo^ ion exchange and to consider cooperative efforts of mutual invest. S^^tt could be undertaken by ad hoc subcommittees, through existing training and ed mechanic and through co-sponsored meetings.
