• Current VISITT vendors reported receiving, on average, more
than two inquiries per month from VISITT users; a third of
those vendors reported receiving job solicitations
• Participation in the database is FREE

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PROMOTE THEIR
TECHHOLOGIES IH VISITT?

Technologies are eligible if they are designed to remediate
groundwater or nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPL) in situ, soil,
sludge, solid-matrix waste, natural sediments, and off-gas.
Technologies not eligible for VISITT include incineration, above-
ground wastewater or groundwater treatments, solidifi-
cation/stabilization, or treatment technologies designed for
treating industrial waste.

HOW TO SUBMIT TECHHOLOGY
INFORMATION TO VISITT

To submit information for VISITT, vendors must complete a
Vendor Information Form (VIF). EPA, which updates VISITT
annually, will be distributing the VIF 5.0 in the fall of 1995. EPA
plans to release VISITT 5.0 in the summer of 1996. See the order
form for instructions on how to order the VIF.

DOWNLOADING THE VISITT 4.0 SOFTWARE
CLU-IN
For CLU-IN data access, call 301-589-8366. You can also access CLU-IN via the Internet at
CLU-IN.EPA.GOV or telnet at 1 34.67.99.1 3. For voice help call 301 -589-8368. After you have
accessed CLU-IN and registered, you may begin the download process. To download ANY of th<
VISITT files from CLU-IN, YOU WILL NEED A PASSWORD! You can get the download password
by filling out the VISITT registration questionnaire. To fill out the questionnaire, type REG from
the "Main Board Command?" prompt, and choose the option for VISITT Registration. If you
need help downloading files, read Bulletin 103 about uploading and downloading, and Bulletin
106 about using zipped files.

The user manual for VISITT is in a file called VISMAN.ZIP. The manual is in WordPerfect 5.1
format.

There are two ways to download the database:

1) Method 1: Requires that you only download one file. The download will be faster, and you
will not need to copy files to diskettes. However, if you experience difficulties running the
program or want to be certain that the installation will be successful, use method 2.

Download the file called VISITT4.ZIP. This file contains the entire VISITT program. However, sinc<
this is a copy of an installed version, unzipping this file will not execute a clean installation. In
other words, when you unzip this file, you are copying rather than installing it onto your hard
disk. The installation program normally would change your CONFIG.SYS file to have 60 files. If
you use this method and VISITT does not run correctly, you can change your CONFIG.SYS file tc
have 60 files. Also, if you are running an earlier version of VISITT, you may want to delete the
old version first or unzip the new version (4.0) into a different directory to eliminate the
possibility of using the new version with the index files from the earlier version.

2) Method 2: Download the files called VISDISK1 .ZIP and VISDISK2.ZIP. These files are zipped
versions of the VISITT disks available from the National Center for Environmental Publications
and Information (NCEPI). You must unzip these files to floppy disks before you can install the
program. Unzip VISDISK1 .ZIP to disk 1 and VISDISK2.ZIP to disk 2. You then can run the
installation as described in the VISITT manual. If you do not have the manual, you can put Disk
1 in the floppy drive and type INSTALL at the prompt of that floppy drive.
