EPA expects that Vendor FACTS will reach a substantial number
of professionals; involved in site characterization and analysis in
the field. As a result, system users such as State and Federal
regulators, site managers, consulting firms, and remediation
professionals will have access to and be able to share
information on your products and their capabilities.
Why Should You Promote Your Technologies
through Vendor FACTS?
EPA promotes and demonstrates the system at various
conferences ih the U.S. and abroad.
ซ join the ranks of more than 80 of your competitors who are
using Vendor FACTS to promote their technologies. (A
complete listxrf Vendor FACTS 1.0 vendors is provided on the
reverse side)
Participation in the database is FREE
What Technologies are Included in Vendor
FACTS? [
Vendor FACTS is a service offered by EPA to promote the use of
certain categories of innovative technologies for field analytical
and site characterization. It includes portable or transportable
technologies for on-site screening, characterizing, monitoring
and analysis of hazardous substances.. Technologies used for
collecting samples for off-site analysis or for monitoring
industrial process waste streams are not eligible.
How to Participate in Vendor FACTS
Participation in Vendor FACTS is voluntary and at no charge to
the technology Vendors. Vendors who wish to participate in
Version 2.0 of the database must provide to EPA information on
their technologies by completing the Vendor Information Form
(VIF). The VIF is designed to allow vendors to highlight the
performance of their technologies and can be obtained by
returning the attached Order Form. Version 2.0 is scheduled for
release in late 1996.

CLU-8N
For CLU-IN data access, call 301-589-8366. You can also access CLU-IN via the Internet at
CLU-IN.EPA.GOV or telnet at 134.67.99.13. For voice help call 301 -589-8368. After you have
accessed CLU-IN and registered, you may begin the download process. To download ANY of the
Vendor FACTS files from CLU-IN, YOU WILL NEED A PASSWORD! You can get the download
password by filling out the Vendor FACTS registration questionnaire. To fill out the
questionnaire, type REG from the "Main Board Command?" prompt, and choose the option for
Vendor FACTS Registration. If you need help downloading files, read Bulletin 103 about
uploading and downloading, and (Bulletin 106 about using zipped files.
The user manual for Vendor FACTS is in a file called VFACMAN.ZIP. The manual is in WordPerfect
S.Mormat.
There are two ways to download the database:
1) Method 1: Requires that you only download one file. The download will be faster, and you
will not need to copy files to diskettes. However, if you experience difficulties running the
program or want to be certain that the installation will be successful, use method 2.
Download the file called VFACTS1.ZIP. This file contains the entire Vendor FACTS program.
However, since this is a copy of an installed version, unzipping this file will not execute a clean
installation. In other words, when you unzip this file, you are copying rather than installing it
onto your hard disk.
2) Method 2: Download the files called VFACD1SK1 .ZIP and VFACDISK2.ZIP. These files are
zipped versions of the Vendor FACTS disks available from the National Center for Environmental
Publications and Information (NCEPI). You must unzip these files to floppy disks before you can
install the program. Unzip VFACDISK1 .ZIP to disk 1 and VFACDISK2.ZIP to disk 2. You then can
run the installation as described in the Vendor FACTS manual. !f you do not have the manual,
you can put Disk 1 in the floppy drive and type INSTALL at the prompt of that floppy drive.

Commerical on-line service providers such as AOL and CompuServe charge a base fee for
membership and an hourly fee for rates of use above a monthly maximum. Some on-line
services, such as DENIX, are free but access to them is restricted. In any event, Vendor FACTS
has been uploaded on the services listed above in freeware locations, enabling you to download
