Do not install the version of MARPLOT included on the CD. The problem with this version of MARPLOT is described on the CAMEO website at www.epa. gov/ceppo/cameo/faq .htm##marplo t. We will be making a fixed version available for download on the website shortly. You can install the updated CAMEO (v 1.2) which will run with either MARPLOT 3.lor 3.2. 2. If you are running Windows 98 and have a Microsoft Intellimouse, the installers on this CD will not run properly. This problem is described and a temporary work around is explained at www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/faq.htmtftfcameo. We will be creating new installers that corrects this problem and they will be available on the CAMEO website shortly. To start Windows in safe mode: a.Click Start, then click Shut Down. b.Click Restart, click OK, then, when you hear a "beep," immediately press and hold down the "CTRL" key until the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu appears. On some computers, you will need to hold down the "F8" key rather than the "CTRL" key. (Wait for the "beep" to press the key; if you hold the "F8" key down from the start of the rebooting, you may get a "key stuck" message.) c. Type in the number for Safe mode, then press "ENTER." 3. Do not install the new version of CAMEO if you have used the Tier II 5.0 program to enter user added chemicals. The update mechanism does not properly handle those chemicals. The new Installer will address this issue. The EPA/NOAA CAMEO team is looking at how to restore your data in the case that you have installed the new version of CAMEO and have had your data modified. BASIC INFORMATION AND INSTALLATION ISSUES: 1. The entire set of user manuals for THE CAMEO Suite (CAMEO, ALOHA, and MARPLOT) is on the CD-ROM in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). The manuals contain installation instructions and login procedures for the programs. You do need Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 4 or later) to view the documents. The Reader can be downloaded for free at www.adobe.com. 2. Take the CAMEO Guided Tour the first time you use CAMEO. Among other items, this tour explains that the first time you run CAMEO for Windows, you can enter User Name "rapid" (no quotation marks) and leave the password blank to run the program in the administrative mode. To change the password, please check the CAMEO user manual. 3. As with all installations, it is highly recommended that you backup your data prior to running the installer. If you have questions about how to do this please refer to the CAMEO website for details. 4. It is also recommended that you have no other software running while the installation is performed. This includes anti virus and, if possible, network client software software. 5. WARNING: Do not run the CAMEO for Windows 1.2 installer on a CAMEO 1.2 installation. This will corrupt any Chemical data you have entered. 6. If you are using CAMEO for Windows versions 1.0 or 1.1 AND you have user entered chemical data which you want to save, you MUST use the CAMEO 1.2 Installer on the CD to Update your installation. You cannot export your user added chemicals and then import them into a clean CAMEO 1.2 installation. Where Can You Receive Technical Assistance? There are several places you can receive CAMEO technical support: • 1. The CAMEO Suite User Manuals on the CD-ROM; 2. The "Help" button in CAMEO; 3. The CAMEO website at www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo: and 4. EPA Regional Contacts (see the CAMEO website at www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/regcont.htm). ------- |
