We've a New Team
Member
We are happy to report that the Technical
Support Center (TSC) Laboratory
Certification Team has a new member.
Patricia Hurr has transferred from the National
Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) to TSC.
Many of you know Pat as the facilitator of the
Drinking Water Certification Officer's Training
course and the organizer of the triennial audits of
the regional laboratories for drinking water. Pat
will continue these duties and help us in other
areas of the certification program. Welcome Pat.
This is a special issue to inform you of the
proficiency test (PT) providers that were recently
approved by NIST. The information is in two
tables. One table includes names, addresses, etc.
and the second table charts the proficiency testing
program designations for which they have been
approved.
We'd love to hear from you. If there are
certification topics you would like to see
discussed, please call, write, fax or e-mail the
editors. There is a form on the last page for you to
use to update or add your name to our mailing
list.

The Office of Ground Water and Drinking

www.epa.gov/OGWDW/. From this
site you can find a wealth of information about
drinking water methods, current and future
regulations, certification issues, and more. The
"Manual for the Certification of Laboratories
Analyzing Drinking Water," the errata sheets,
past issues of the LabCert Bulletin and this issue
can all easily be found from this address.
There are two other websites that you may find
helpful. The first is the NIST/NVLAP website,
http://ts.nist.gov/ts/htdocs/210/214/214.htm.
This page lists the first accredited PT providers
in the NVLAP Directory of Accredited
Laboratories under the field of Chemical
Calibration, Providers of Proficiency Testing.
The other website is:
http ://www.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/acesl40.html,
where you where you can find the drinking water
regulations.

Office of Water Proficiency Test (PT) Providers
The National Institiue of Standards and Technology (NIST) has developed the standards for the accreditation
of private sector PT providers and operates a provider accreditation program under an Interagency Agreement
with EPA. The study participants include participating analytical laboratories in water supply (WS) and Water
pollution (WP) studies, and permittees in the Discharge Monitoring Report-Quality Assurance (DMRQA)
studies. The tables below list the names and contact information of the first group of providers approved by
NIST, and the parameters for which each provider has been approved. The Accreditations are valid through:
September 30,2000.
