United States Environmental Protection Agency Arsenic & Surface Water Treatment Rules Training by Satellite Broadcast January 29 and 30, 2003 The Environmental Protection Agency will conduct a training of the Arsenic and Surface Water Treatment Rules transmitted by satellite broadcasts to designated downlink sites throughout the nation. The broadcast will take place on January 29th and 30th, 2003, from ll:00am - 5:QOpm EST, respectively. This broadcast has been developed for State, Tribal, and local water utility personnel and technical assistance providers who are active in the water program. Arsenic Rule Training January 29, 2003 The Arsenic Rule training addresses rule requirements and implementation issues, with a focus on treatment technologies and waste disposal There are an increasing number of arsenic removal technologies, so the training identifies case studies and provides an update on research. The training will address the range of mitigation options and issues, including treatment selection and designing a pilot. Surface Water Treatment Rules Training January 30f 2003 The Surface Water Treatment Rules Training is a comprehensive look at all of the regulations affecting surface water treatment. The training addresses: ' * Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR) • Interim Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (IESWTR) * Long Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT1ESWTR) • Filter Backwash Recycling Rule (FBRR) • Other rules, as issues regarding simultaneous compliance arise Both training sessions will be followed by an expert panel discussion. Panelists will discuss questions submitted by the audience at the downlink sites. Participants will be encouraged to share their questions or experiences so that we can all learn together.
