                        Introduction
he Hazardous Waste Superfund Collection: Access to Journals was
developed to improve EPA staff access to the wealth of current
information in the Headquarters Library journals collection on
hazardous waste Superfund topics.

The Headquarters Library Hazardous Waste Superfund Collection
provides information that supports the Office of Emergency and Remedial
Response. Topics covered include Legal/Litigation, Right to Know,
Superfund Sites, Regulations, Health Risks/Assessment and Technical/
Chemical Information. The types of information frequently requested include
current events, profiles of individuals in the news, summaries of new
legislation, private sector developments and product evaluations.

Access to Journals organizes available publications first by key subjects
followed by a descriptive listing which provides: a summary of coverage,
sample article tides, frequency of publication, publisher, and issues available
in the Headquarters Library. Types of journals include newsletters, bulletins,
looseleaf services, and other public and private sector serials.

In addition to journals, the Hazardous Waste Superfund Collection
includes books, reports and directives necessary to the implementation of
EPA's Superfund Program. Access to the full Collection is provided through
the Hazardous Waste Superfund Database. The Database identifies and
summarizes relevant information by keyword.

The Hazardous Waste Superfund Collection and Database are also
available at EPA's ten Regional libraries and selected laboratory libraries. The
collections at these sites may have different journals from those listed here.

Other information services and products available through the
Hazardous Waste Superfund Collection include bibliographies of topical
subjects by keyword, orientation to information sources, current awareness
updates and consultation on managing Program information.

For further information on access to information through the EPA
Library Network Hazardous Waste Collection, please contact Felice Sacks,
Head Hazardous Waste Librarian, at 202/382-3021. If you have suggestions
for continued development of information services and products, please
contact Suzanne Annand, Information Management Specialist, at
202/475-8298. •
