                      Introduction
The following enterprises are in the business of accepting,
recycling, processing, and/or disposing of various hazardous wastes.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency does not endorse any of
these firms and cannot vouch for the environmental adequacy of
their operations. This list, which is furnished as a public ser-
vice, will be revised as the EPA, Office of Solid Waste (OSW)
becomes aware of significant numbers of other similar enterprises
that accept hazardous wastes for disposal. These facilities are
those that OSW is currently aware of; information on new facilities
or those not listed can be forwarded for inclusion in the next
update of this publication to Program Manager, Assistance Program,
Hazardous Waste Management Division (AW-465) , Office of Solid Waste,
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, B.C. 20460 or
to the OSW representative of the appropriate EPA Regional Office.
(Appendix F)

Facilities disposing of pesticides or pesticide containers
should conform to the "Recommended Procedures for the Disposal and
Storage of Pesticide and Pesticide Containers", as published by EPA
in the Federal Register, May 1, 1974 and October 15, 1974. Those
utilizing incineration or landfilling should conform to EPA's landfill
and incineration guidelines as published in the Federal Register,
August 14, 1974, and to all applicable Federal, State, or local
regulations.

Several States allow certain hazardous/industrial wastes to be
disposed of in particular landfills on a case-by-case basis.
all disposal actions, the State solid waste or hazardous waste
management agency (Appendix E) should be consulted before ultimate
disposal.

-------
                     Disposal Methods Key
The following listing indicates the number of hazardous waste
management facilities, solvent reclaimers, metal reprocessors,
petroleum re-refiners and industrial waste information clearinghouses
in a particular State. States with the notation - NA - have been
identified as not having any commercial firms that process or treat
hazardous/industrial waste. States that allow landfilling of hazar-
dous wastes in municipal landfills have not been identified in the
listing; the user is referred to the appropriate State agency for
regional disposal regulations. Specific public landfills are not
generally listed with the exception of California Class I landfills.

                    User Instructions
The data on hazardous waste management facilities are presented
in a synopsized format. The facility listings are organized by state.
Only those states that are known to have commercial hazardous waste
management facilities are included in this directory; however, many
operations maintain an interstate transportation capability.

The facility formats are abbreviated characterizations of
the waste management facility's operation. Detailed information on
the facilities can be obtained from the individual waste management
facility or the appropriate State Solid Waste or Hazardous Waste
Management Agency (Appendix E).

Describes range of operations that
the facility may perform for a client.

Includes wastes accepted and considered
by the facility. Many operations select
waste on the basis of analysis of each
batch.

Generally, most facilities do not accept
radioactive materials nor explosives;
exceptions are noted under "Wastes
Handled".

Describes basic treatment or chemical
processing used to detoxify or neutralize
wastes.

Notes ultimate disposal methods for wastes
handled. Includes landfills, secure
landfills (chemical waste landfill),
incineration, ocean dumping and deep well
injection.
