To support the increasing need to communicate on the issues
dealing with the Gulf of Mexico, the EPA Gulf of Mexico Program
has initiated GULFLINE, an electronic bulletin board (BBS).
Located in Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, GULFLINE will
serve as a vital link between researchers, policy-makers and
concerned citizens on Gulf -related issues.

GULFLINE BBS is a free service, accessible to EPA employees and
the public. Among the services available are an electronic mail
system, full-text of the Gulf of Mexico Program Newsletter Gulfline.
news and events updates, and a Directory of Gulf Experts.

INTRODUCING BIBLIOFILE - OUR NEW LIBRARY
                      CATALOG
                                       -- Liliana Vivanco

The catalog of the International Collection will soon be
searchable on a compact disk. The combined catalogs of the
EPA library network (OLS) and NOAA Library and Information
Network Catalog (LINC) will be accessible in a CD-ROM. This
CD-ROM is a BiblioFile product from Library Corporation.

A pilot version of Bibliofile is now being demonstrated in the
Headquarters Library. The demo CD-ROM contains 200
records and is still in the testing stages, but it can give
patrons a preview of our future state-of-the-art EPA library
catalog .

In the Intelligent Catalog, a patron can search using natural
language or boolean search operators, or can browse the list
of subjects displayed to the right of the screen for
serendipitous discoveries. It is designed to "recognize any kind
of entry" and "to prevent any search from failing". If the color-
coded keyboard is not self-explanatory enough, there is also
an on-screen tutorial, as well as context-sensitive help
messages at every point in the search process. The Catalog
