PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) is a
bibliographic database available on CO-ROM at the
EPA Headquarters Library. It contains citations to
public policy literature in a variety of subjects, includ-
ing:

       • environment
       • business
       • economics
       • law
       • international relations
       • political science
       • social sciences

References and summaries in English are provided to
material published in any of six languages: English,
French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish.
Printed material in the following formats is included:

       • journal articles
       • books
       • government documents
       • committee hearings
       • pamphlets
       • public and private organization reports
PAIS can be searched by subject, title, author, or
keyword. Search results can be printed or downloaded
to a 3 1/2" floppy disk. Remember to bring your own
disk if you want to download information. The Library
staff will be conducting a training session on PAIS on
December 12,1992. Access instructions, searching
procedures, subject scope of the CD product, and
printing/saving to disk will be covered at this session.

to reserve a spot for PAIS, or any of the other CD-ROM

         UNCED COUNTRY REPORTS

  INFOTERRA has begun acquiring the country
  reports prepared for UNCED. These are documents
  prepared by the government of each country that
  participated in the Rfe Conference.  The reports
  focus on what each country perceives to be its most
  important environmental issues, the actions that it
  has taken to improve the environment, and its goals
  for the future. So far INFOTERRA has received
  reports (in English} from the following countries:
  Japan, Israel, Poland, and the Peoples' Republic of
  China.                     :

  While these are not currently circulating from the
  collection, you are welcome to visit INFOTERRA,
  and the staff wai be happy to share them with you.
