We wish Linda success in her new assignment Ms. Lou Tilley Region 5 Librarian (5PL-16) 230 South Dearborn St. Rm 1670 Chicago, IL 60604 INFOTERRA Represented at EPA's 4th National Environmental Information Conference INFOTERRA partners from Canada, Ireland, India, Botswana and the United States, along with Dr. Woyen Lee, Director INFOTERRA Programme Activity Centre (PAQ and Roger Johnson of INFOTERRA/PAC, attended EPA's 4th National Environmental Information Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 2-5,1991. Environmental information and its role in reducing risks from environmental hazards was the conference theme. Participants attended sessions on risk reduction, data integration, pollution prevention and strategic planning, all focusing on the key role of environmental information and data in scientifically based environmental decision-making. Sound decisions can be made only when based on sound environmental information. Breakout sessions were held on such topics as market-based environmental incentives, data sharing methods, and empowering the environmental organization. INFOTERRA/USA distributed copies of the U.S. Directory of Environmental Sources, the newly published national source directory, and other information on INFOTERRA/USA services. Demonstrations of the INFOTERRA Database were given and materials from the INFOTERRA National Focal Points in India, Ireland and the United States were distributed.
