The composite daily averages and hourly averages for the entire
study period are given in Tables 41a and b. The composite profiles for
the entire study period are pictured in Figures 45a through f.
Aircraft Sampling Results
A log of the Battelle aircraft sampling flights carried out during
the 1975 New England study is given in Table 42.
In this data report, each aircraft flight is represented on a map
showing the flight pattern and the ozone concentration along the flight path
in parts per billion by volume. All flights were conducted at an altitude
of 1000 feet above ground level unless otherwise noted. The arrows on the
flight paths indicate the direction of flight. Large spaces between plotted
ozone concentration values indicate that the ozone concentration was essentially
constant between those values.
The sites of bag sample collection are marked along each flight
path together with the bag number. The results of the analysis of each bag
sample are displayed in the lower right corner of each flight map.
The vertical profiles of ozone concentration and temperature were
determined during most of the flights, often at more than one location. Sites
of vertical profiling are labeled along each flight path by the word "SPIRAL".
The vertical ozone and temperature profiles are displayed in figures following
each flight map. In cases where more than one spiral was carried out during
any one flight, the starting time of the spiral (marked on each vertical pro-
file) and the direction of flight (from Simsbury) will serve to identify each
spiral location, since the spirals were carried out sequentially along the
flight path. All vertical profiles have been corrected for atmospheric density
variations. Haze layers observed during vertical profiling are indicated at
the approximate altitude on the vertical profile plots.
In the following set of figures, each flight path and the associated
vertical profile plots are listed under the same figure number with a and b
designations.
The results of all of the Battelle aircraft flights from the 1975
New England study are represented in Figures 46 through 89.
