nal Field Trip
An optional overnight field trip to the
Sulphur Bank Mercury Mine Superfund
Site (SBMM) is scheduled to start after the
last session on Thursday, November 30th
and return to the Cathedral Hill Hotel by
4:00 pm Friday, December 1, 2000.
SBMM is a historic, unreclaimed Hg mine
located 100 miles north of San Francisco on
the eastern shore of Clear Lake, one of the
largest and oldest natural fresh water lakes
in California. SBMM involves many issues
related to conference topics including:
• Historic Hg mining operations
• Characterization and reclamation of
abandoned Hg mines
si Fate and transport of Hg in lacustrine
systems and sediments
s BiO'Uptake and bioaccumulation of
methylmercury
• Hg deposition from geothermal
systems
a Hg flux from air emissions
• TMDL development
Advance payment will be required to
confirm participation. You will receive a
letter with details including transportation,
lodging, meals, and cost and payment
instructions if you check the appropriate
box on the registration form in this
brochure. Space is limited to the first 45
people. Seats will be assigned as registra-
tions are received. The field trip is subject
to cancellation depending on the level of
attendee interest.
