Through a number of legislative programs and special initiatives, the US EPA
has invested in the development and implementation of characterization and treatment
technologies for hazardous waste site remediation. The US EPA has also sponsored
and promoted the development, demonstration and commercialization of technologies
both directly and with a number of partners in other Federal agencies, academia, and
the private sector.
The US EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) and Technology Inno-
vation Office (TIO) are jointly sponsoring this conference. The conference will provide
an opportunity for stakeholders and partners to share the most recent information
about the status of these efforts, evaluate success of past efforts, and discuss future
research and information needs. Stakeholders will also learn of opportunities to partici-
pate in EPA sponsored programs in the future such as those featured in the work-
shops.
