EPA REACH IT 542F04022 EPA REmediation And Characterization Innovative Technologies (EPA REACH IT) www.epareachit.org ------- EPA REACH IT REmediation And CHaracterization Innovative Technologies Innovative Technology Information at Your Fingertips What is EPA REACH IT? Do you need reliable information about remediation and characterization technologies? Would you like to know about sites at which these technologies are being implemented? Or, are you looking for a cost-effective way to market your innovative treatment or characterization technologies to key decision makers? The new EPA REACH IT can help with streamlined access to technology information. REmediation And CHaracterization Innovation Technologies (EPA REACH IT), sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Technology Innovation Program, is a system that lets environmental professionals use the power of the Internet to search, view, download and print information about innovative remediation and characterization technologies and their applications. EPA REACH IT is a free service to both technology providers and technology users. It combines information submitted by vendors of remediation and characterization technologies with information from EPA, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and state project managers about sites at which innovative technologies are being deployed. The combination of these sources provides you with up-to-date information about: B technologies you can use to characterize or remediate a site, H sites at which technologies are being used, and H service providers that offer them. EPA REACH IT includes a fully searchable database that allows users to identify sites with characterization and remediation challenges that closely match their own. What's New in EPA REACH IT? B Streamlined access to technology and vendor information, including: • Streamlined search functions, with one-page search criteria selection and fewer pop-up windows • One-ciick access to searches on topics of interest to the remediation community, the most commonly searched technologies and contaminants, and customized user-created queries " Faster searches for specific vendors, technology trade names, and sites with alphabetical indexes • One-click downloading of search results in a spreadsheet • A new Snapshots secfion thaf graphically summarizes EPA REACH IT data H In 2004, 30 new technologies were added and 30 technologies were updated. Many of trie new technologies address difficult remediation problems, including mercury, 1,4-dioxane, and perchiorate. Page 3 lists these new and updated technologies. They are summarized below. Treatment Technologies • Mercury treatment (1 3 new and 0 updated) • Perchiorate treatment (0 new and 2 updated) • 1,4-Dioxane treatment (3 new and 0 updated) • Chemical Treatment -Oxidation/Reduction (2 new and 3 updated) • Phytoremediation (0 new and 1 updated) " Bioremediation (4 new and 6 updated) • Others [1 new and 8 updated) Characterization and Sampling • DNAPL characterization technologies (1 new and 2 updated) • Sampling technologies (2 new and 1 updated) • Others (5 new and 5 updated) www.epareachit.org ------- What Technology and Site Information Can I Find in EPA REACH IT? Information Available in EPA REACH IT As of November 2004 Remediation Technologies H 308 technology vendors H 476 technologies S 2,486 sites at which remediation fechnologie being applied Characterization Technologies H 166 technology vendors S 251 technologies B 200 sites at which characterization technoloc are being applied Below are some types of information available on the EPA REACH IT website. How Can I Add Information About My Technology to EPA REACH IT? You can list your technology information on EPA REACH IT free of charge by filling out a Vendor Information Form (VIF). EPA REACH IT contains many types of remediation and characterization technologies. Eligible technologies are described on the EPA REACH IT website at www.eporeac/irt.org on the "About EPA REACH IT" page. The VIF is available: H By accessing the EPA REACH IT home page at http://www.epareachit.org H By completing the one-page form on the insert to this Fact Sheet, and mailing it to the address printed on the back. H By e-mail, with a request to EPAREACHIT@ttemi.com H In hard copy, with a request to the EPA REACH IT help line at (800) 245-4505 You also can update existing information by accessing your VIF with your password. If you have forgotten your password, call or send an e-mail to the address listed above. What Are Hot Topics in the Cleanup Community? We are particularly interested in expanding EPA REACH IT to include more technologies that address the following: - Dense nonaqueous phase liquids (DNAPL) - Sediment - In situ thermal treatment - In situ chemical oxidation - In situ flushing - Mercury - 1,4-Dioxane - Perchlorate What are the Benefits of Being on EPA REACH IT? S The EPA REACH IT website is widely used by federal agencies, states, consulting engineering firms, responsible parties, technology developers, and the investment community. H EPA REACH IT is widely advertised at conferences and through direct mailings to an extensive list of potential users. S EPA REACH IT is free to both providers and users of innovative technologies. You can become part of EPA REACH IT by investing only the time it takes to complete the Vendor Information Form (VIF) for your technology. H The new system has updated site features and functions, and more technologies, vendors, and sites. ------- New and Updated Technologies on EPA REACH IT Website in 2004* Mercury Treatment Technologies ADA Technologies, Inc. - Chemical Immobilization Bethlehem Apparatus Company, Inc. -Mercury Retort Biopraxis, Inc. - Passive Treatment Wall (Permeable Reactive Barrier) Brookhaven National Laboratories - Solidification/Stabilization Frontier Geosciences, Inc. - Pump and Treat Harbauer GmbH & Co.
