About NRMRL
A Career In Risk Management
Cincinnati, Ohio, is headquarters for the National Risk Management Research
Laboratory (NRMRL). NRMRL advances the scientific understanding and the
development and application of technological solutions to prevent, control, or
remediate important environmental problems that threaten human health and the
environment.
NRMRL comprises six divisions. The Sustainable Technology Division
(Cincinnati) addresses pollution prevention issues by investigating clean processes
and products, by using systems analysis such as life cycle assessment, and by
addressing multimedia problems such as those from the mining and metal finishing
industries. The Land Remediation and Pollution Control Division (Cincinnati)
conducts research at the bench and pilot-scale level to explore innovative solutions
to land pollution
problems, at the
field level to
evaluate and
demonstrate
innovative
technologies, and
provide technical
assistance to
Superfund and
non-Superfund
contamination
problems. The
Water Supply
and Water Resources Division (Cincinnati & Edison, NJ) conducts research to
help prepare the primary and secondary regulations for drinking water and to de-
velop technologies and strategies for controlling water-borne contaminants. The
Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division (Ada, OK) conducts re-
search and engages in technical assistance and technology transfer on the chemical,
physical, and biological structure and processes of the subsurface environment and
bio-geochemical interactions in that environment. The Air Pollution Prevention
and Control Division (Research Triangle Park, NC) characterizes emissions and

The Research Triangle is named for the triangle formed by three
cities and universities: Duke University at Durham, the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina
State University at Raleigh. The award-winning Environmental
Protection Agency campus in RTP incorporates hundreds of
environmentally friendly features. EPA set a clear goal for the
campus: build state-of-the-art laboratories and offices that
embody the Agency's environmental mission and save taxpayers

                       About Ada. OK ...
Ada is nestled in the rolling hills of southern Oklahoma. With a
population of approximately 17,000, Ada offers all the amenities
of a much larger city, yet maintains the best features of small-
town America, providing a quality of life to its citizens few
communities can match. The Chickasaw Nation Headquarters
offices are located in Ada as well as Chickasaw Industries
(various enterprises associated with the Chickasaw Nation). The
quality of the workforce in Ada can be directly attributed to the
fine education system, that includes East Central University.
