TO ADDRESSEE ERRATA TO APPENDIX A - TABLE OF RESULTS PLEASE INSERT TfflS ERRATA SHEET IN YOUR COPY OF EPA'S FY 1999 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT (EPA-190-R-00-001) ISSUED MARCH 2000 BY THE OFFICE OIF THE CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER. THE REPRESENTATION OF FIVE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE GOALS (APGs) AND RELATED INFORMATION FOR APGs 7, 13, 14, AND 49 CONTAIN ERRONEOUS TEXT AND DATA AS PRINTED IN APPENDIX A - TABLE OF RESULTS '"ADDITIONAIXY/APG26'IS"l^SSlMj'"FROMtHE- TABLE. i THIS ERRATA SHEET CORRECTLY REFLECTS THE PERFORMANCE INFORMATION FOR THESE FIVE ANNUAL PERFORMANCE GOALS. ------- PA SHEET TO EPA'S FY 1999 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT " " "^^^^^^^^ ICH 2000 ;' 'ABSi^^jjQj^^^ liiiijl! in FIT 1999 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE GOALS AND MEASURES APG 7 - Maintain 4,000,000 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reduction from util- ity sources, and maintain 300,000 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOJ reduction from coal-fired utility sources. APG 13 - EPA will provide funding to restore wetlands and river corridors in 30 [(watersheds that meet specific I "Five Star Project" criteria 1 relating to diverse community ||p?*tnerships (for a cumulative I] total of 44 watersheds). It APG 14 - EPA will provide jjdata and information for use by IStates and Regions in 1 assessing and managing 1 aquatic stressors in the IjwatcTshcd, to reduce toxic 1 loadings and improve Ijecological risk assessment. APG 26 - Maintain levels (for a cumulative total of 28% or 62 million tons) of municipal solid waste diverted from land filling and combustion, and Ijmaintain per capita generation 1 of RCRA municipal solid waste at 4.3 pounds per day. APG 49 - By 1999, complete five to seven monitoring pilot projects in Environmental IjMonitoring for public Access land Community Tracking •(EMPACT) cities, implement JJtimcly and high quality Jjenvironrnental monitoring Ijtechnology in five to seven I EMPACT cities. 4,000,000 300,000 30 9/30/99 28% 4.3 Ib per day 5-7 46 9/30/99 8 The Agency is on track to achieve the annual performance goal. End-of- 1 year data will not be available until late 2000. 1 The baseline for this goal has been corrected from 4 to 1 1 (for a 11 cumulative target of 41 watersheds). The Agency exceeded the goal due I to difficulty in setting a precise target. The program calls for a few large 11 grants to be passed through as small sub-awards based on a competition. 1 Selected sub-grantees' average project costs were lower than expected, 11 resulting hi the opportunity for more sub-awards. 11 EPA completed a study, produced three publications on "knowledge-based II approaches" to watershed assessments, and produced a publication on 11 ecosystem classification and mapping. Analysis of data to determine national recycling rates no longer occurs annually. The next analysis is expected in 2001. Data for 1997 indicate that 28% of municipal solid wastes (MSW) was diverted from land filling and combustion. Per capita MSW generation was at 4.4 pounds per day, a slight increase over the planned target attributed to the robust economy. I IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIBIHIIIIIIIIBIIIIIII1I II111B ------- |
