 Dear Director,

n4a has been pleased to partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on its
Aging Initiative over the past several years. The Aging Initiative is an effort at the federal level
designed, among other things, to prioritize and study environmental health threats to older
persons. This effort is clearly focused on healthy aging, a growing priority for n4a and our
network of AAAs and Title VI grantees.

As part of the initiative, EPA has recently produced fact sheets and a poster on three
 critical topics -

        1. "Age Healthier, Breathe Easier" (fact sheet and poster)
        2. "It's Too Darn Hot: Planning for Excessive Heat Events (fact sheet)
        3. "Effective Control of Household Pests" (fact sheet)

A sample of each fact sheet and the poster are enclosed, along with a letter from Kathy
Sykes, a senior advisor at EPA, explaining more about these products. Ms. Sykes' letter also
tells you how you can order additional copies of each of these items to provide to the older
adults and caregivers your agency serves.

We hope you find these materials helpful in promoting healthy aging in your community.

                                                With best wishes,
                                                Sandy Markwood
                                                Chief Executive Officer
