Heare, Director Drinking Water Protection Division TO: Interested Stakeholders I am writing to introduce the booklet entitled Taking Stock of Your Water System: A Simple Asset Inventory for Very Small Drinking Water Systems. The Drinking Water Utilities Team has produced this booklet as a capacity building resource for very small drinking water systems. Our goal for this booklet is to help these systems understand the basics of conducting a simple inventory of assets and to provide some general instruction in its application and use. This new document will be of value to very small drinking water systems (such as manufactured housing communities and homeowners associations) and others working with small systems. The booklet summarizes the importance of asset inventory and how conducting the inventory is the first step in helping systems operate in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The booklet explains the process of conducting an asset inventory and utilizes examples and worksheets to instruct small drinking water systems through the various steps. I ask that you help us ensure that the booklet reaches the systems who would most benefit from it. We welcome and encourage any feedback on this booklet to help us improve upon the quality and effectiveness of this and future products.
