                PURPOSE

    This conference  is sponsored  by the U.S.
Environmental  Protection  Agency .& Environ-
mental Research Information Center as part of
the Technology Transfer Program to disseminate
the latest  information on  the design of small
wastewater treatment systems and sludge treat-
ment and  disposal systems.
    Participation  is offered to consulting engi-
neers, municipal design engineers  and federal
and state pollution control officials concerned with
pollution control and  abatement.
    In the area of small wastewater treatment
systems, subject facilities will include small com-
munity wastewater treatment systems «1 MGD)
and individual home or on-site wastewater treat-
ment devices. The seminar will feature incorpora-
tion of the latest technology into construction of
new facilities and upgrading of existing installa-
tions. Consideration will also be given to recom-
mended operation and maintenance procedures.
    Subjects  featured in the Sludge Treatment
and Disposal portion of this seminar are innova-
tive  processing  technology,  conversion  and
product recovery systems, and land application
systems for sludge. The seminar will show how to
incorporate the latest technology into construction
of new facilities and upgrade existing installations.
Consideration will also be given to recommend-
ed operation and maintenance procedures as
well as energy requirements.
