This workshop has been designed with input from State and
Regional representatives to address specific Regional, State,
and Local program needs for use and application of EPA's
Drinking Water Health Advisories and regulations. I highly en-
courage all persons dealing with risk assessment and manage-
ment of drinking water contamination problems to attend this
comprehensive workshop in their designated regional location.
 Hotel Information
                                Michael B. Cook, Director
                                Office of Drinking Water
 Background and Purpose
The Office of Water's Health Advisory Program and the Office
of Research and Development's Center for Environmental
Research Information have worked together with EPA
Regional offices to prepare this program. The workshops will
present information on the health effects, toxicology, and
treatment technologies available for three major classes of
drinking water contaminants: inorganics, solvents, and
pesticides. The workshops will also describe the philosophy
and methodology supporting the Office of Drinking Water's
Health Advisories as well as issues to consider when com-
municating with the public and the press. Opportunities will be
provided for participants to take part in hands-on case studies
designed to demonstrate risk assessment and risk manage-
ment methods necessary to resolve a drinking water con-
 tamination incident.

The target audience includes Regional, State and local officials
who deal with drinking water contamination problems, as well
as RCRA and CERCLA regulatory staff, private consultants
 and drinking water utility managers.
