-------
With the implementation of the SDWA Amendments of 1986,
the regulation of public water supplies will enter a new era.
To ensure the utmost in regulatory efficiency and effective-
ness throughout this transition phase, it will be increasingly
important to foster communication among all parties involved
in providing water to consumers federal, state, and local
governments, consulting engineers, equipment manufacturers
and suppliers. The need exists to match best available
treatment technologies (BAT) with the standards now being
developed for various contaminants and with the technical
and financial capabilities of water systems of various sizes.
To promote communication between the various entities
involved and facilitate the development and utilization of
more cost effective treatment technologies, the Association
of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) has
entered into an agreement with EPA's Offices of Drinking
Water and Research and Development to co-sponsor a series
of three workshops on emerging drinking water treatment
technologies. These workshops will be valuable to individuals
who prepare and approve drinking water treatment plans as
well as to manufacturers of water treatment equipment.
Michael E. Burke
President, ASDWA
Purpose
The purpose of this workshop series is to actively transfer
technical information on recently emerging but proven tech-
nologies and encourage their being incorporated into either the
plans for process modifications or construction of new pro-
cesses. Specific topics to be covered include:
Regulatory developments
and state implementation
of the SDWA
Systematic approaches for
evaluating new treatment
alternatives
Barriers to the introduc-
tion of new technologies
Filtration
Disinfection
Organics removal
Inorganics removal
Radionuclides removal
Registration Information
There is no registration fee required for attending a workshop.
Since registration will be limited to the space available, the
attached registration card should be completed and mailed as
soon as possible. A letter confirming your pre-registration will
be sent to you.
