These workshops are sponsored by the Center for Environmental
Research Information, Cincinnati, OH.
Background and Purpose
The workshops are being presented to introduce the "Handbook
on QA/QC Procedures for Hazardous Waste Incineration" being
developed for EPA by one of its contractors. The primary
audience for the handbook and subseguently the workshops is
EPA RCRA permit writers and permit applicants for hazardous
waste incinerators. Additionally, however, the workshop
potentially will have a diverse audience -- engineers, chemists,
environmental scientists, plant managers, and EPA staff of all
levels. The workshops on QA/QC Procedures for Hazardous
Waste Incineration will involve explanations of, and exercises in,
process monitoring, sampling, and analytical activities, after first
defining the Data Quality Objectives (DQOs) needed for testing
and sampling hazardous waste incinerators, including procedures
during the trial burns. QA/QC procedures shall be defined for
those pollutants normally associated with emissions from an
incinerator, such as POHCs, PICs, metals, particulates, dioxins,
furans, acid gases, and combustion gases.
