choose SunWise products and participated in
team-building relay races where teammates
chose sun-safe outfits.
* Phoenix Department of Parks and
Recreation in Phoenix, Arizona, held a "Kids
Day of PLAY" for 144 youth participants. The
event blended SunWise with an emphasis on
healthy behavior to ensure sun-safe fun for
everyone. Participants were monitored for
proper sunscreen usage and also were given
pedometers.
* Union Township School in Hampton, New
Jersey, promoted sun-safety at their annual field
day. Sun protection measures, such as shade
tents, were instituted. Older students created
skits, songs and puzzles about being safe in
the sun for younger students.
* Brownstown Middle School in
Brownstown, Michigan, emphasized a peer-
based approach for sun-safety Health students
created a SunWise campaign for fellow students
to prevent sunburns during field day outdoor
activities. The campaign was a success as there
were no occurrences of severe sunburns on
field day!
