The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the "Containment and Disposal of Large
Amounts of Contaminated Water: A Support Guide for Water Utilities." The Guide may serve as a
preparedness tool for water utilities (i.e., drinking water, wastewater and stormwater) and emergency
responders when addressing decontamination issues in a contamination event. The guide provides
decision making frameworks for containment, treatment, and disposal of chemical, biological, and
radiological (CBR) contaminated water from an all-hazard event.
