UPDATE CONCERNING EPA'S CLEAN AIR MERCURY RULE The Clean Air Mercury Rule (CAMR), issued March 15, 2005, will require reductions in mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants. EPA believes that the technologies that will be selected to implement the new rule will not significantly increase the mercury levels in coal ash. Therefore, EPA's conclusions in this booklet should remain valid. The Agency will reassess its position and notify appropriate parties, if there is a significant change to the characteristics of coal combustion products due to new air pollution controls, combustion technologies, or feedstocks.
