     I am pleased to present to you the newly published Tribal Resource Directory
for Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment. The Directory is a catalog of over
thirty federal and non-federal programs that offer funding and technical support for
tribal drinking water and wastewater systems.  The Directory is intended to help you
identify the programs that are best suited for your community's drinking water and
wastewater needs.

     The Directory provides program-specific  information on the types of eligible
projects, amount of available funding, eligibility criteria, how to apply, and how to
obtain more information on that particular program. You can also access an
electronic, searchable version of the Directory by visiting the following EPA website:

     Access to safe drinking water and wastewater services is of critical importance
to human and environmental health. The EPA  Office of Water is committed to
continuing its collaboration with tribes and with other federal agencies to improve
access to these essential services in Indian country.
