Dino helps children understand that-the water we have on earth is all we will ever have and shows us ways to save our precious water resources everyday. The fourth video is specifically designed to introduce junior high school students to the varied careers available to them in the water quality field. Students are introduced to careers that are both rewarding and help preserve our limited water resources. Simply complete and mail the attached card to receive any o.f the four educational videos described below. The Surface Water Video (9:OO min.) Explore the world of streams, lakes, oceans, and rivers with Dino Sorrus and learn how every drop of water we have on earth is contin- uously recycled through the atmosphere by evaporation, condensa- tion, and precipitation. Dino and his young reporters, Jason and Jennifer, show you how our surface water is being polluted everyday by people and nature. Jason and Jennifer learn how each person can help conserve our precious supply of sur- face water, clean up the water pollution that exists today, and pre- vent future pollution around our homes and communities. The Ground Water Video Adventure (9:20 min.) Dino Sorrus guides you through a video game adventure to help you explore the world of fresh water below the earth's surface, the source of most of our fresh water supply. For Jennifer to win the video game, she must protect ground water from potential threats from industry, agricul- ture, and people. Jennifer firtds that the video game is much more difficult than she thought, and protecting our ground water supply is not a game at all. Pollution in the ground water supply harms the water we depend on everyday of our lives. Dino shows Jennifer ways people working in industry and agriculture can clean polluted areas before the pollutants reach the ground water supply and easy steps she can take in her home to stop ground water pollution. Saving Water - The Conservation Video (8:OO min.) Dino Sorrus takes Roberto on an adven- ture to a museum of the future. Roberto is surprised to find an exhibit called "The Lost Treasures of Earth," where the last remain- ing drops of clean water on earth are displayed. Dino Sorrus explains to Roberto that all of the water currently on the earth is all we will ever have. If people use and pollute too much water, we will not be able to clean and recycle it fast enough to save it for the future. Roberto is happy to return to the present where water is plentiful, and he is eager to learn ways to conserve our precious water supply before it is too late. Dino Sorrus shows him many easy ways he can save water everyday. Careers in Water Quality (76:20 min.) Explore careers in water quality with a teacher and his students as they work on a class project. To help stu- dents choose a career, the teacher shows a documentary of inter- views with scientists, computer specialists, engineers, attorneys, and government officials who have chosen careers that help the environment and protect water quality. The students realize that pursuing a career in the water quality field can make a worth- while contribution to the environment and can be personally rewarding as well.
