Grant Highlights
$129 MILLION FUNDED
IN JANUARY
EPA approved 228 grants totaling $128.0 million
in January. Total grant dollars awarded through
January of FY84 increased $,?72.2 million ($794.5
million compared to $522.3) during the same period
of FY83. (p. 7.)
49 STATES AND PUERTO
RICO AWARDED STATE
MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE
GRANTS
51 STATES/TERRITORIES
HAVE WQMP GRANTS
49 STATES/TERRITORIES
AWARDED RCRA/
SUPERFUND AWARDS
Since April 1980, EPA awarded State Management
Assistance grants totaling $428 million to 49 states
and one territory (Puerto Rico). These grants provide
funds for states to employ staff to administer
segments of the W1 Construction Grants program
delegated to them by EPA. (p. 19.)
Since October 1981, EPA awarded 51 states and/or
territories $34.0 million for Water Quality Management
Planning in accordance with Section 205(j) of the
Clean Water Act. (p. 20.)
Since June 1983, EPA awarded 47 states and Puerto
Rico Superfund awards for State Inventory programs
as authorized under Section 3012 of the Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act. (p. 24.)
