ADMINISTERED PROGRAMS
EPA approved 293 grants totaling H5AJL million in April.
Total grant dollars awarded through April of FY 83
increased $852.8 million when compared to the same period of
FY 82.  (1,453.9 billion compared to $601.1 million),  (p. 8.)

Since April 1980, EPA awarded State Management Assistance grants
totaling $339 million to 45 states and one territory (Puerto
Rico). These grants provide funds for states to employ staff to
administer segments of the wwr Construction Grants program delegate
to them by EPA.  (p. 20.)

Since October 1981, EPA awarded 30 States and/or Territories
$10.8 million for Water Quality Management Planning in accordance
with Section 205 (j) of the Clean Water Act.  (p.22.)

Headquarters funded 55 (13%) of the total 416 applications
received,during the first half of FY 83 while 289 t-70%) of the.
applications were in process,  (p.2.)

WWT  Construction Grants -  Water  Quality Management  Planning


 The Administrator shall  reserve each fiscal year 1 per centum,  or 5100,000 which-
 ever amount is greater,  of the sums allotted and available  for obligation to each
 State under Sec. 205 (j) of the Clean Water Act.for each fiscal year beginning
 on or after October 1, 1981, for grants for Water Quality Management planning.
