PREFACE
This document presents three Appendices which support Volume III,
Permit System, of the Alaska Implementation Plan. Appendix A, provides
definitions of terms used in the Permit System. Appendix B, is a sample
Registration Form for use in registering sources of air pollutants.
Appendix C, is an Application Form for authority to construct and/or
permit to operate a source of air pollution.

APPENDIX A - DEFINITIONS
Stationary Source - Any building, structure, facility or installation which
emits or may emit any air pollutant.
New Source - Any stationary source, the construction or modification of
which is commenced after the office adoption of the Alaska State Air
Pollution Control Rules and Regulations.
Modification - Any facility change or change in the method of operation
of, a stationary source which increases the amount of any air pollutant
emitted by the source or which results in the emission of any air
pollutant not previously emitted.
Owner/Opera tor - Any person who owns, leases, operates, controls,
or supervises a stationary source.
Existing Source - Any stationary source other than a new source.
Air Pollution Control Authority (APCA) - The local Air Pollution Control
District or, in its absence, the Department of Environmental Conserva-
tion.
