SUBJECT:     Peer Review  and Approval of Abstracts and Papers

TO:  •        All OERR Staff

     This memorandum outlines  OERR's policy on peer review and
official approval of abstracts and papers.  In general,
abstracts and papers are  for presentation at professional
conferences, symposia and association meetings.

     All abstracts and papers  must be peer reviewed within the
Division of origin and officially approved by the Division
Director before submittal or presentation.  The Division
Director will determine if the material is of a policy nature
that requires the specific approval of the Director, OERR.

     Any paper presented  by  an individual who is not
representing the Agency in an  official capacity must contain a
disclaimer stating that the  views expressed in the paper are
those of the author and do not represent official EPA policy.

     If you have any questions regarding this policy for peer
review and approval, contact Sherry Hawkins of my staff.
