Therefore, The Division of Manpower and Training of the Office of Water Programs, like every program or activity receiving financial assistance from the Environmental Protection Agency, must be operated in compliance with this law. ------- FOREWARD AUTHORITY: Grants for training projects and for research fellowship awards are authorized in Section 5 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended (33 U.S.C. 1151 et seq.) effected by the Water Quality Improvement Act of 1970 (P.L. 91-224; 84 Stat. 91). PURPOSE: The purpose of these grants are to encourage, cooperate with and assist appropriate agencies, institutions, and individuals in the conduct of studies and training relating to the causes, control and prevention of water pollution. By this means institutions are incouraged to develop specialized water pollution control courses within multidisciplinary curricula for scientists, engineers and management planning personnel.
