Since the start of the hazardous waste cleanup program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has studied more than 33,000
hazardous waste sites, issued scores of program guidance and technical manuals, and produced hundreds of fact sheets and explana-
tory documents. All this activity has made the Superfund and Enforcement programs a larger publishing enterprise than many
private sector publishers.
The 1992 Compendium of Superfund Program Publications is the single most complete source of information produced by EPA on
hazardous waste. With the Compendium, Superfund experts and nonexperts alike can obtain the latest publications or computer files
covering every phase of the Superfund program. The publications and computerized data listed in the Compendium come from many
program offices including:
• Office of Emergency and Remedial Response (OERR),
Technology Innovation Office (TIO),
Office of Waste Programs Enforcement (OWPE),
Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS), and
• Office of Research and Development (ORD).

How To Order Publications
The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) has joined forces with EPA to ensure that citizen requests for informa-
tion are filled rapidly at the lowest possible cost. NTIS is the repository of technical publications for the Federal Govern-
ment, the largest single source for public access to federally-produced information, and is equipped to reproduce and distrib-
ute publications on a document-by-document or on a standing order basis. All publicly available Superfund publications and
RCRA Enforcement publications can now be obtained through NTIS.
To be more responsive to the extensive public demand for hazardous waste publications, the NTIS has established expedient
publication fulfillment procedures specifically for OERR and OWPE. Members of the public may obtain any publication in
the Compendium from NTIS through several ordering methods.
The new NTIS Standing Order Service is the best way to stay current with program developments. Standing order customers
automatically receive every Superfund publication and RCRA Enforcement publication issued by the OERR, OWPE, and
the ORD during the year. Printing delays will not interfere with standing orders; NTIS reproduces the most important
publications directly from camera-ready copy so crucial information is on its way before the finished documents leave the
printer. Customers also can tailor their standing orders by receiving new publications in customer-selected categories:

• Removals and emergency response
