necessary, referrals are provided to the government

INFOTERRA NETWORK
INFOTERRA is designed to serve as a global
gateway to information needed to solve
environmental problems around the world.
The INFOTERRA system Is comprised of:
National Focal Points (NFPs)
Network of over 165 participating nations
sponsor access points where the public can
seek answers to environmental questions.
NFPs can draw on the resources of network
partners to most efficiently respond to queries.
NFPs also register and update sources for the
INFQTERRA International Directory of Sources.
Regional Service Centres (RSCs)
RSCs assist NFPs in a geographical region by
providing database searches, promoting
communication and offering training and support
where needed.
Special Sectoral Sources (SSS)
Recognized experts in areas of environmental
studies who provide custom research on issues
of special environmental priority.
Programme Activity Centre (PAC)
Located at UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi,
Kenya, the PAC coordinates network activities
and promotion, provides training and assistance
to NFPs, and publishes a network bulletin and
the INFOTERRA International Directory of
Sources.
