criteria, the current value of the geographic criteria chosen
(either Nation, Census Region or Division), the pesticide, and
the demographic category provided as input.
For each detail category within the demographical criterion

chosen, the following information is presented. If to be reported
on a lipid basis, each individual residue amount is divided by
the decimal equivalent of the % lipid before performing these
calculations, if »iirid less than in include in all cables not n.
a) Detail category name
b) Number of samples tested for the pesticide within the
category
c) Number of samples where residue was detected
d) Percent of samples where residue was detected = c/b*100
e) Number of samples where residue was detected in trace
quantities
f) Percent of samples where residue was detected in trace
quantities e/b*100
g) Maximum = largest residue amount
h) Minimum = smallest residue amount
i) Arithmetic mean = (i residue amount) /b
4] Geometric Mean = (antilog y}-l, where y=9 n
where y.= (x.+l), x . =individual residue amount.
k) Standard deviation of log of (X+l)
1) 16th Percentile = actual 16th%ile of ordered residue
amounts.
m) Median
n) 84th Percentile = actual 84th%ile of ordered residue
amounts.
Residue amounts for those residue info records selected
but having a trace indicator equal to-*- are treated as zeroes
in the calculations. Those residue info records for adipose
tissue having a confidence code equal to K are totally bypassed.
Those having a confidence code equal to I or J are treated as
traces above. For blood and urine samples, records having
confidence codes of Y are treated as traces and those having a
confidence code of Z are totally bypassed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Input to the report generator must include the collection
date reporting range using Parameter Start Date and Parameter
End Date. Additional selection criteria can be used to reduce
the sites to be reported by using the following Parameters:
a) Parameter Source - i.e. HANES, or "normal" survey
b) Parameter Site List - list of particular sites to be
reported. (Default is all)
c) Parameter Amount - all samples, use .000, positive only,
For each selected site record, a new page is generated and
heading information is provided including the site name, site
city, and state name.
For each sample record within the selected site, detail
data from the sample record and patient sample records are
printed. Information includes:
a) Patient Initials
b) Accession Number
c) Collection Date
d) Design Indicator

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Input to the report program generator must include the
following parameters:
1) Parameter Summary - i.e. summary level wanted (National,
State, Hospital, Region, Census Region , Census Division)
2) Parameter Date Range - i.e. period of sample collection
to be reported
3} Parameter Sample Type - i.e. tissue type to be reported
4) Parameter Source - i.e. HANES samples or regular survey
samples
5) Parameter Basis - valid for Adipose tissues only. i.e.
residue levels to be reported on a % lipid extract or
wet weight basis
6) Parameter Residue - i.e. which residues to be reported.
(Default is all residues tested)
7) Parameter Geography code list - Dependent on Parameter
summary, i.e. a list of which states, Hospitals, Regions,
etc are to be reported
8) Parameter Amount - All samples use JOOO, Positive .001
For a break in Parameter Summary, a new page is generated '
and header information is printed including the current summary
level name (a particular state name, hosptial name, etc.)

DETAILED DESCRIPTION (Continued)
For each break in Residue Code the following information
is oresented:
For other than PCBs
a) Residue name
b) Number of samples tested for that residue
c) Number of samples where residue was detected
d) Percent of samples where residue was detected = c/b*100
e) Number of samples where residue detected but immeasurable
(count of samples of trace flag on)
f) Percent of samples where residue detected, but
immeasurable = e/b*100
g) Maximum = largest residue amount
h) Minimum = smallest residue amount
i) Arithmetic mean = (I residue amount)*b
j) Geometric Mean = {antilog y}-l, where y=9 n
i=liog yi
where y.= -(x^l), x'. =individual residue amount.
k) Standard deviation of log of (x+1)
1) Sixteenth Percentile = actual 16th%ile of ordered amounts
m) Median
n) 84th percentile = actual 84th%ile of ordered amounts
o) Positive Mean=(Eresidue amount)/c
For PCB's
a) Residue name
b) Sample size
c) Number not detected
d) Percent not detected = c/b*100
e) Number where residue amount less than 1 PPM
f) Percent = e/b*100
g) Number where residue amount greater than 1 PPM but less
than or equal to 3 PPM
h) Percent = g/b*100
i) Number where residue amount greater than 3PPM
j) Percent = i/b*100
Residue amounts for those residue info records selected
but having a trace indicator equal to < are treated as zeroes
n the calculations. Those residue info records for adipose
tissue having a confidence code equal to K are totally bypassed,

Those having a confidence code equal to I or J are treated as tr
traces above. For blood and urine samples, reocrds having
confidence codes of Y are treated as traces and those having a
confidence code of Z are totally bypassed.
If the report to be generated is the lipid/Design, do
not select those samples where the lipid extract percent is
less than 10. These samples should only be included in
the lipid/All report.

RECORD SELECTION CRITERIA

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
During editing and updating of the Pesticides
Monitoring System, card images of regected transactions
along with associated error messages are written to an
intermediate file. At the conclusion of the cycle, the
file is sorted by input type and printed.
For each transaction rejected by the cycle, the
following data is presented.
a) An image of the transaction
b) For each error, an image of the transaction with
asterisks in the field that caused the failure,
a one character severity level, and finally,
a message indicating why the field may or may
not be incorrect.
A new page is generated on a change in the input type
field.
