               IV.  INPUT/OUTPUT SPECIFICATIONS
1.  INPUT SPECIFICATIONS

    The existing residue analysis forms for  adipose and HANES II data
will  be  used with  no  modifications.   These  forms  may be found  in
Exhibit IV-1.

    The Pesticide  Analysis  Worksheet  currently  used  for the  soils
system has been  modified slightly to include the reporting of  samples
from the air, water, and estuarine transport modes.  The revised form
may be found in  Exhibit  IV-2.  The major modification is the expansion
of the residue code from the three digit system currently being used
to  the  use of  the  six digit  Shaughnessey  code  used  in other  EPA
systems.

    The Cropping and  Pesticide Use Record  (Exhibit  IV-3), used for
agricultural soils Fertilizer and Pesticide  usage data, has also been
modified to use the six digit  Shaughnessey  code.

    Additional changes  to the  latter two  forms are  a  change  in data
input format  from  a one-record multi-residue/pesticide  format to  a
one-record/one-residue  format.   The existing forms  allow  for  the
keying of more  than one residue  or  pesticide  code per input  record.
The new forms call for  only one  residue or  pesticide  code per  input
record.

2.  OUTPUT SPECIFICATIONS
    The reports to be produced by the system  are  found  on the  pages
following Exhibits IV-1, IV-2,  and  IV-3.   These  reports  are:

         (Default is all residues tested)
      7)  Parameter Geography code list - Dependent  on Parameter
         summary, i.e.  a list of which states, Hospitals, Regions,
         etc are to be  reported
      8)  Parameter Amount - All samples use JOOO,  Positive .001
      For a break in Parameter Summary, a new page  is generated '

level name (a particular state name, hosptial name,  etc.)

         During editing and updating of  the  Pesticides
  Monitoring System, card images of regected transactions
  along  with associated error messages  are  written to an
  intermediate file.  At the conclusion of  the cycle, the
  file is  sorted by input type and printed.
         For each transaction rejected by the cycle, the
  following data is presented.
         a)  An image of the transaction
         b)  For each error, an image of  the  transaction with
            asterisks in the field that  caused the failure,
            a one character severity level,  and finally,
            a message indicating why the field may or may
            not be incorrect.
         A  new page is generated on a change in the input type
  field.
