NEW REPORT AIDS TN ESTIMATING POLLUTION EQUIPMENT COSTS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has published a
two-volume report on the CAPITAL AND OPERATING COSTS OF POLLUTION
CONTROL EQUIPMENT MODULES.
The publications are designed to aid engineers and others
responsible for purchasing and installation of industrial water
pollution control equipment to prepare reasonable conceptual cost
estimates for the proposed facilities. Easy-to-use graphs and table
forms allow rapid evaluation of cost/process decisions for various
types of flow processing installations.
Using the methods and data in the USER GUIDE (Vol. I) and the
companion DATA MANUAL (Vol. II), estimates of costs within 10 percent
of the actual constructed facility costs were obtained.

The publications were prepared for EPA's Office of Research
and Development by ICARUS Corporation of Silver Spring, Maryland.
The work is part of OR&D's continuing program not only to develop
new or improved pollution control equipment but to facilitate its
installation.
Other than copies for the press, Report (EPA-R5-73-02a+b) is
available only from the U.S. Government Printing Office or the
National Technical Information Service of the U.S. Department of
Commerce. The GPO prices are $2.40 for Volume I and SI.90 for
Volume II. They may be ordered from the Superintendent of Documents,
U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402.
