ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAMS IN NEW ENGLAND Environmental Protection Agency Region I & United States JOHN F. KENNEDY FEDERAL BUILDING GOVERNMENT CENTER - BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02203 ------- ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAMS IN NEW ENGLAND U. S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL OFFICE, BOSTON, MASS. ------- ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAMS NEW ENGLAND Elaine E. Pickle Karen A. Cloffi Water Programs Manpower Office Water Programs Division UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY REGION I John A. S. McGlennon Regional Administrator October 1976 ------- There has been a great deal of interest In preparing people for employment in occupations directly related to the betterment of the environment. This publication has two objectives: one is to acquaint the reader with what is currently being done to train people in pollution control (water and wastewater treatment); the second ob- jective is to provide guidance to those who might be interested in beginning a new pollution control training program. Included is a list of high school, vocational school, undergrad- uate, and graduate programs in each state. We have also included federal training grants currently in operation, funded by the Environ- mental Protection Agency and the Comprehensive Employement and Training Act. For your convenience we have identified correspondence courses and self—paced instruction for water and wastewater treatment plant operators. If you are interested in beginning a program to train water supply or wastewater treatment personnel, you can contact the Environmental Protection Agency, Region I, or your State Environmental Agency. We sincerely hope that this publication will provide some assistance to you. It is our intention to update this reference on a yearly basis. Please feel free to offer any suggestions or information you would like to have included. 2 ------- CORRESPONDENCE COURSES DURATION AND!
