DIRECTORY of ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS In New England U.S.Environmental Protection Agency n * T ° J Region I ------- Foreword from the Regional Administrator This is a directory of non-profit organizations dedicated to the protection of the environment. It includes state and federal government agencies, and national, regional, and local groups operating in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. From the beginning of my term as Regional Administrator, I have worked closely with environmental groups and encouraged them to be active participants in our Agency decision-making. Our mandate is to protect the environmental and public health interests of New Englanders, and certainly they should be involved in decisions of this nature that affect them so critically. I hope that this publication will serve as a resource for those who would like to get involved in protecting our environment but don’t know where to start. It will show where there are groups already pursuing specific issues and where groups exist in the public participation process. I hope that groups already listed will continue their efforts, and that people who have not previously involved themselves in environmental protection will find an appro- priate vehicle for their energy and talents. I am confident that working together, we can preserve New England’s natural environment and the health of its citizens. William R.
