ANSWER: Any EPA employee may borrow items by showing an EPA ID card to the
reference technician at the Circulation Desk. Any EPA contractor, with a current library
services authorization form on file at the Circulation Desk, may also have lending privileges.
The authorization form must be complete and signed by the contractor's EPA project
officer. The borrowing policies are as follows:
General Collection
Books and reports circulate for 3 weeks
Journals (except current issues with red dot on cover) circulate for 2 weeks
Special Collections items circulate for 2 weeks. These collections include:
Information Resources Management
International Collection
Management Collection
Pollution Prevention Collection
Water Collection
Noncirculating Materials include:
Abstracts and Indices
Code of Federal Regulations, all years
Congressional Record
Current Journals
Federal Register

Microfilm and Microfiche (copies may be made using reader
printers available in the Library)
Newspapers
Pamphlet and Article file material
Presidential Documents
Reference Collection
United States Code and United States Code, Annotated
Other special documents, such as the MOSES materials
• Videotape Collection materials circulate to Headquarters staff on a 24 hour
basis. Tapes checked out on a Friday are due back to the Library on
Monday. Tapes requested by an EPA Library in a Region or lab have a
longer circulation period. Video reservations for a future date are accepted.
Overnight Privileges
With special permission certain noncirculating hems may be taken out
overnight or from Friday at 5:30 p.m. to Monday at 8:00 a m.
