The Washington, D.C.-based company will provide coding and cataloguing services for EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs, extracting scientific information from data submitted by pesticide manufacturers in support of claims of safety and workability of individual pesticide products. The scientific data are required in applying for registration of pesticides. Edwin L. Johnson, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Pesticide Programs', said that Technassociates will perform a long-needed service, examining some 60,000 volumes of data covering a million or more tests on pesticide products. The firm developed a pilot program for the coding and catalog- guing system before the current work was begun. The data,Johnson said, have never before been abstracted or systematically catalogued. He added that Technassociates, which has done previous work for the pesti- cides program, will also provide systems Stippprt for the regu- lar pesticides registration process.
