EPA prepares and issues regulations to implement environ- mental programs in the areas of air and water pollution abate- ment, drinking water protection, noise abatement, radiation protection, solid waste management, and pesticide and toxic substances control. Regulations are prepared by the EPA staff and are subjected to numerous internal and public reviews before final approval and issuance. In addition to the formal opportunities for public comment provided by Federal Register notice and public hearings, EPA encourages informal public participation through direct con- tacts between Agency staff and interested members of the public. The attached list shows the regulations being developed by EPA. It also gives a brief description of each regulation, as well as the name of an EPA contact and an estimated schedule for issuance. Interested persons are encouraged to contact these individuals to provide or obtain information concerning the development of these regulations.
