How To Get The
Most From This Catalog
General
The Educational Materials Resource Library is a free service provided by U.S. EPA Region 4 to assist educational
agencies, schools, nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, and state, local and tribal educational agencies
increase their ability to provide environmental education activities.
Only one copy of each document is maintained in the library and must be copied prior to mailing. Therefore, we can only
supply one copy of up to three different documents. Materials in the collection either are public-domain or provide
permission to copy for classroom use.
This catalog has been designed to allow you to quickly find the educational materials that you need. Included is
an alphabetical index, an index by topic and index by type of material. The topic index and the type of material
index are arranged by grade level and topic or type.
Topic Index
The topic index is arranged by major topic: air, multi-media, other, waste and water. The grade levels are
clustered as follows: K-5, 6-8, 9-12 and adult. Multi-media materials are those that cover more than one topic,
i.e., water and air. Those materials that are listed under the topic of other are those that do not clearly fall within
one of the other topics, i.e., habitat, energy, etc.
Type of Material Index
The type of material index is arranged by major types of educational materials: activity books, activity guides,
curriculum, other and sourcebook. Grade levels are clustered the same as the topic index. Educational videos are
also available for check-out. Videos are listed in a separate catalog.
Catalog
The catalog is arranged in alphabetical order. It provides a title, grade level, type of material, and topic. These
are all included in the top line of the listing. A brief description is also included to describe the contents of the
document.
