Mercury in Schools
     How to be safe in ease of a spill

1. Stay Calm
    If mercury is spilled in the school do
    not panic. Remain calm and get as
    far away as you can.
               A silvery, odorless toxin,
               mercury breaks up into tiny
               beads when released.

2. Don't touch it!!
    Never try to clean
    up the mercury
    yourselves.
    Mercury vapors
    are toxic, and they
    can make you feel
    very sick or dizzy.

3. Tell a Teacher
    If you see a spill or are part of a spill,
    immediately go and tell your teacher.

    If not at school—find an adult you know
    and trust and tell him/her what you found,

4. Avoid the Spill
    Move far away from the area where the
    mercury spilled.
    If you walk too close to the spilled
    mercury it can contaminate your shoes
    and spread everywhere you walk.

5. Leave the room
    Once your teacher has been notified, she will
    instruct yon on the exit procedure.
    Be quiet and pay attention. Your teacher is trying
    to prevent any harm to you or your classmates.
