Training on Emergency Response to Contamination of Wastewater Systems Why is training on contamination of wastewater systems offered? EPA acknowledges the fact that, like drinking water utilities, wastewater utilities are potentially targets of malevolent acts, including contamination. The Wastewater Response Protocol Toolbox (WWRPTB) addresses response to contamination incidents in wastewater systems. This can include contamination with toxic chemicals as well as infectious, radioactive, flammable or explosive substances. In keeping with the trend of providing guidance that is suitable for multiple hazards, the WWRPTB discusses the response to accidental and negligent contamination events in addition to its primary focus on intentional contamination. This course provides training on the guidance for wastewater utilities found in the newly developed WWRPTB. What is the Wastewater Response Protocol Toolbox? The WWRPTB is a planning tool that provides guidance to aid utilities in planning for contamination threats and incidents. Additionally, the WWRPTB can be used as a reference by laboratories, regulatory agencies, health departments, and emergency response organizations when they are preparing their response plans for dealing with wastewater contamination threats and incidents. What topics are covered in the training on Emergency Response to Contamination of Public Wastewater Systems'! * Conducting a threat evaluation * Responding to a contamination threat or incident * Site investigation * Sample collection * Sample analysis * Recovery from a contamination incident * Incident Command System *Tabletop Exercise * Crisis Communication Who should attend this training? Small, medium and large wastewater utility staff and management, state wastewater primacy agencies personnel, public health officials, and government & non-government workers with a role in emergency response. How much does it cost to attend the training? There is no fee for attending this training! Why should I attend training on Emergency Response to Threats of Contamination of Public Wastewater Systems'! Contaminations incidents have occurred in wastewater systems in the past. Some of these have resulted in significant impacts on public safety as well as public and private property. Since wastewater systems have been categorized by the Federal government as key infrastructure, expectations have increased for their protection. This course provides valuable information for protecting these systems.
