Certified Irrigation
Professionals
EPA
WaterSense
WaterSense9 and Landscape
Irrigation
An efficient landscape irrigation system requires not
only water-efficient products, but also proper
design, installation, maintenance, and auditing. EPA's
new partnership program, WaterSense, recognized
the importance of water-efficient irrigation practices
and in October 2006 released three separate irriga-
tion certification program specifications. These spec-
ifications cover programs for irrigation system
designers, auditors, and installation/maintenance
professionals. WaterSense labeled programs must
meet the criteria set out by EPA and include water
efficiency as a key component.
How Are Certified Professionals
Involved?
Once a certification program has been labeled
by WaterSense, irrigation professionals that earn
that certification may sign a partnership agreement
with WaterSense and join as a program partner.
Professionals who hold a valid certification from a
WaterSense labeled program may sign a partnership
agreement with EPA upon receipt or renewal of their
certification.
EPA
WaterSense
PARTNER
Partnership agreements
define the roles and
responsibilities of EPA
and the certified profes-
sional. For example, once
certified professionals
sign up as WaterSense
partners, they are allowed to use the WaterSense
partner logo and will be listed on EPA's national
Web site.
Why Join WaterSense?
Joining WaterSense as a program partner helps irri-
gation professionals distinguish themselves from
competitors by promoting their commitment to
water efficiency and use of water-efficient irrigation
practices in the field. In addition, certified landscape
irrigation professionals who are WaterSense partners
will receive national recognition from EPA.
By choosing an irrigation professional that is a
WaterSense partner, residential and commercial cus-
tomers know they're getting an irrigation system
designer, installation/maintenance professional, or
auditor who can help them reduce water use while
maintaining the perfect landscape.
