Fiscal Year 2009 Highlights of Navajo TRIBAL CREDENTIALS FIELD CITATION PILOT PROJECT HISTORY Federal Credentials were issued in March, 2009 to Henry Haven and Warren Roan employees of Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency. As U.S. EPA Credentialed UST Inspectors, the Navajo Inspectors wrote Federal Field Citations to Non-Compliant UST Facilities. Currently, the two Navajo Inspectors are the only USEPA credentialed inspectors authorized to write USEPA Field Citations under a two year Pilot Agreement. ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 2009 Completed 42 inspections within the Navajo Nation. Wrote 17 Field Citations totally $4,900 in proposed fines. Settled 7 Field Citations amounting to $1,300, and anticipate closing the remaining 10 in the First Quarter of new Fiscal Year. Prevented the Release of 850,000 Gallons of Petroleum to the soil and groundwater. Reduced USEPA Travel and Personnel Costs. Prevented approximately Three Tons of Green House Gas Emissions by having Locally Based Inspectors.* WHAT IS A FIELD CITATION? A Field Citation is similar to a "Speeding Ticket".
