                        should be complete next
                        week—almost exactly two years

ing the train to just 4 cars. So far, approximately 3200 feet of rail line have been
removed from the Site. Rail cars are now being loaded adjacent to the construction trailer
on-Site. Crews will now be switching out trains twelve times/day. While best efforts will be
made, it may be impossible to completely avoid switching out trains during the busy school
arrival and departures times. Please bear with us for only 1 more week!
 Removal of SAA Illb sediments
has begun (see photo at right).
As of Monday, removed 23,000
cubic yards of material. These
sediments will not be sent off-site
for disposal but placed in the Tunnel
Pond repository. The Restoration
Grading Plan has recently been
revised to create a smoother transi-
tion to the repository area. Work
should be complete by December.
 Continue implementation of the
State's Restoration Grading Plan.
Excavating from Area J and placing material in Area B and when appropriate in the Buried A-
horizons soils stockpile. So far: Placed 160,000 cubic yards of material in the Bypass Chan-
nel stockpile; 83,000 cubic yards have been used for Grading Plan cut and fill work; and
48,000 of Buried A-horizon soils have been stored for future use. Whenever possible, trees
and shrubs are being salvaged for later use in restoration work.
