Green Remediation Best Management Practices:
Fact Sheets on Specific Remedies and Other Key Issues
Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation
                         August 201 1 Update
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is identifying opportunities to advance green remediation strategies
across cleanup programs. As part of this effort, the Agency is benchmarking and documenting best management
practices to be included in decision-making toolkits available to an expanding network of practitioners.
EPA's Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology
Innovation is working with other Agency offices involved in site
cleanup to develop a series of
        quick-reference fact sheets describing
          best management practices (BMPs)
for frequently used cleanup remedies, various field stages, and
other aspects posing significant opportunities to reduce the
environmental "footprint" of site cleanup. The practices can be
used for investigative and response actions at sites under
Superfund, corrective action, brownfield, underground storage
tank, and federal facility remediation programs.

Each fact sheet addresses a cleanup project's: (1) energy
requirements, (2) air emissions, (3) impacts on water, (4)
impacts on land and ecosystems, and/or (5) material
consumption and waste generation.
